Quiltalong: Block 6

This is one of my favorite blocks of all time. So much so that it’s in our logo. The sawtooth star is iconic, and adding it to our Made and Found Quiltalong was a no-brainer.

For Block 6, I made sure to make the most of that middle square and do some fussy cutting. As your resident Leo, adding the lion to the center was perfect. To fussy cut the square how I wanted it, I used the 2¾” little line on my ruler as the center and put it smack dab in the middle of the lion’s face.

For the star points, I played with adding more yellow or even pulling out the pale turquoise from the figures, but then I saw this piece of Atomic from Libs Elliott and knew that was the perfect thing. It’s a little bit more saturated than the other deep aqua I used in Block 2, but I’m strongly of the opinion that more is more so in it went.
