What’s a holiday project without a little magic? We have a surprise for your Merry Makers — there’s a Secret Santa. Everyone say hello, or ho ho ho, to our Secret Santa for Merry Makers 2023, the fabulous Edyta of Laundry Basket Quilts!
Our Secret Santa, aka Edyta, designed a beautiful setting to show off all of our Merry Maker blocks. The setting with big stars made me think of poinsettias, so I wanted to make them bright and warm with shades of deep orange to rusty red.
I split the color placement on both my backgrounds and my stars to make everything pop out a bit more. The star point around the edges are that beautiful rusty red orange from Gemma, and the center star is the Vala colorway from Dottir (which has a bit of pearlescent sparkle because you know, Christmas!). Then the background color around the edges is a little deeper than the Astrologika one I’ve been using with my favorite marble print from Ciao Bella.
I think it turned out so pretty! These colors were all inspired by my favorite partridge in a pear tree Christmas pillow, and I think it looks Christmassy.
